For nearly ten years Sandy & Trish Toomer lived and worked in Central and South America.  We know coffee first hand.

While living and studying Spanish in San Jose, Costa Rica for a year we took advantage of opportunities to visit some of the great coffee plantations in Costa Rica to see how it was picked, processed and roasted.

Later while living in Ecuador, South America for seven years, Sandy worked as a bush pilot (with Mission Aviation Fellowship). Over the years he flew literally tons of green coffee beans grown by several villages of Amazon Rainforest tribes who raised coffee to supplant their incomes.

That is where it all started...

We returned to the US in 2002 and landed in the Auburn-Opelika area and our thoughts turned to opening our own coffee shop here to share some of the knowledge and passion we have for this great bean.  The result was Toomers Coffee Company.

The result is that we have grown and as we've have grown we've expanded, but not with more shops. We started with custom roasted coffee from our mentor and friend John Bunn (The Coffee Company) who we got to know while Sandy was in Flight School at Moody Aviation in Elizabethton, TN. Then we bought John's roaster and now roast the beans ourselves right here in the Auburn-Opelika area. 

Hundreds of pounds of our beans are purchased monthly by local individuals, businesses, banks, and churches as well our our recent move into the Auburn Hotel and Dixon Conference Center in Auburn.

Blue Cross Blue Shield films commercial at Toomers Coffee Company!

Dallas based production company, Directorz (client list includes, McDonalds, Home Depot, Sara Lee, Pioneer to name a few) chose Toomers Coffee as their Auburn location for a shoot as part of a series Blue Cross is doing high-lighting Blue Cross customers that have been helped by the their BCBS of Alabama coverage's.

One, a local seminary student, Jarod Dobbins, came down with Malaria after a summer missions trip to Africa in 2007.  His Blue Cross coverage made a difference in his recovery process by working with him and making sure he got the treatment he needed.

The Director of the project met with Jarod at our coffee shop and fell in love with the look and feel and thought enough of it to ask if we would mind them shooting the commercial at our shop.  Wow!

It was a great experience.

Friday morning (April 18th) four large trucks, lots of lights, cameras, and a crew of thirty showed up at 6:00 AM.  They were set up by 6:45 and began shooting at 7 AM.  To make it even better, they picked up the tab for any customers who came in while the shoot was going on.

The people from Directorz were great and a lot of fun to have around.  We told them to come back anytime!

So who knows, you may see our name on TV next year!  We plan to have to spot on here for you to watch.

Let it snow let it snow!

Who would have guessed that a few Saturdays ago a rainy morning would've turned into a snowy morning.

We came into the shop that drizzly morning and next thing we knew it was sleeting then shortly thereafter it began to snow...and....and snow for the next three hours.

By that night it was all gone, but we had fun just the same.

Concert at Toomer's Coffee benefiting the Invisible Children Project Saturday January 26th..8 PM was a success!

Saturday January 26th several local musicians played at Toomers Coffee Company in Auburn to benefit the Invisible Children's Project.

Last year we were able to raise more that $2000 which provided school uniforms, food and supplies for four Ugandan children for one year!  Thanks Auburn.

This year, another $600 will go to help the Invisible Children of Uganda because of YOU!  Thanks Auburn!
