What Sets Peaberry Coffee Apart from Regular Coffee Beans? Peaberry coffee refers to a type of coffee bean that develops as a single, round, and small seed inside the coffee cherry, rather than the usual two flat-sided beans. It occurs in about 5-10% of coffee cherries and is often considered a prized specialty coffee. Some believe peaberry beans to have a slightly different flavor profile compared to regular coffee beans, often described as having a more concentrated and intense flavor. They are sorted and processed separately, and you can find peaberry coffee from various coffee-producing regions around the world.

Where does Peaberry Coffee come from?

Peaberry coffee can be found in coffee-producing regions around the world, so its growth is not limited to a specific country or region. However, the availability of peaberry beans can vary depending on the specific coffee-producing area. Some regions known for producing peaberry coffee include:

  1. Tanzania: Tanzanian peaberry coffee, particularly from the Kilimanjaro region, is quite popular and well-known for its unique flavor profile.
  2. Kenya: Kenya also produces peaberry coffee, and it is often considered to have bright acidity and complex flavors.
  3. Brazil: In Brazil, the world’s largest coffee producer, you can find peaberry beans from various coffee-growing areas.
  4. Costa Rica: Some coffee farms in Costa Rica also produce peaberry coffee, which is appreciated for its quality.
  5. Papua New Guinea: Peaberry coffee from Papua New Guinea is known for its distinct flavor characteristics.
  6. Other regions: Peaberry coffee can be found in other coffee-producing countries as well, such as Colombia, Rwanda, and Yemen.

Keep in mind that the availability of peaberry coffee may vary from year to year, and it’s often considered a specialty or premium coffee variety, so it may not be as common as regular coffee beans from the same regions.

Infrared Roasting actually improves the flavor of our Peaberry Coffee
Infrared roasted coffee offers several advantages:

  1. Lower Acidity: Our unique infrared roasting method helps by reducing certain acids that may trigger acid reflux or some stomach issues typical with other coffees.
  2. Precision and Consistency: Infrared roasting provides precise control and even heat distribution, resulting in consistent roasts for each bean.
  3. Enhanced Flavor: Some coffee enthusiasts appreciate the unique flavor profiles that infrared roasting can bring out in the beans.
  4. Reduced Energy Consumption: Infrared roasters are often more energy-efficient, which benefits both the environment and costs.
  5. Quicker Roasting: Infrared roasting is faster, helping preserve bean freshness and flavor.
  6. Reduced Smoke and Emissions: This method produces fewer emissions and less smoke, making it cleaner for roasting.
  7. Consistent Quality: Infrared roasting maintains consistent quality, making it suitable for large-scale production.

It’s important to note that the preference for coffee roast profiles is highly subjective, and what one person enjoys, another may not. The choice between infrared-roasted and traditionally roasted coffee ultimately comes down to personal taste. Exploring different roast styles can be a fun way to discover the flavors that appeal most to your palate.

Ive been drinking Toomers coffee for years and have tried most of them. They are all very good, and this is one of my favorites. A dark roast, never bitter, very aromatic. During the holidays Ive given it as gifts to friends and family. Highly recommended!
  • Whole Bean Tanzania Peaberry - Friday, March 9, 2018
