At Toomer’s Coffee Roasters, we’re more than just a specialty coffee company—we’re a family of Christian coffee roasters with a global mission. Founded by Sandy and Trish Toomer, former missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship, our story began not in a café, but deep in the jungles of South America—serving people, spreading the gospel, and learning how small, faithful steps can impact the world.
From the Mission Field to the Roastery
Our journey as Christian coffee roasters started years ago in Shell, Ecuador, the same town where Jim and Elisabeth Elliot lived and worked. As MAF missionaries, Sandy flew over the Andes Mountains and dense rainforest to deliver aid and the gospel to unreached villages. That calling to ministry still burns in our hearts, but after returning to the U.S., we found a new mission field—right here at home.
In 2004, we founded Toomer’s Coffee Roasters in Opelika, Alabama, combining our passion for global missions with a love for ethically sourced, low acid specialty coffee. We’ve spent the last two decades honing our craft, roasting small-batch coffee with precision and purpose—serving churches, cafes, coffee shops, ministries, and coffee lovers who want their daily cup to make a difference.
