toomers_coffee_roasters_costa_rica_flagOur Costa Rican Tarrazu coffee is renowned for several characteristics that make it special and highly regarded among coffee enthusiasts:

  1. Ideal Growing Conditions: Tarrazu is a coffee-growing region in Costa Rica known for its high-altitude coffee farms. The combination of high elevations, rich volcanic soil, and a favorable climate provides optimal conditions for coffee cultivation. The altitude allows coffee cherries to mature slowly, enhancing their flavor.
  2. Bright Acidity: Costa Rican Tarrazu coffee is known for its bright and lively acidity. This acidity is often described as citrusy and vibrant, adding a refreshing quality to the coffee.
  3. Clean and Balanced Flavor: Tarrazu coffee is celebrated for its clean and well-balanced flavor profile. It typically exhibits a harmonious blend of flavors, including mild fruitiness, floral notes, and hints of cocoa or nuttiness.
  4. Medium Body: It typically has a medium body, which means it's not overly heavy but still offers a satisfying mouthfeel.
  5. Strict Quality Control: Costa Rica has strict regulations and quality control measures in place for its coffee production. Coffee from Tarrazu is often subject to these rigorous standards, ensuring consistent quality.
  6. Sustainable Practices: Many Tarrazu coffee farms prioritize sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices, making it appealing to eco-conscious consumers.
  7. Single-Origin Excellence: Tarrazu coffee is often sold as single-origin, allowing coffee enthusiasts to appreciate the unique terroir and characteristics of this specific region.
  8. Traceability: Tarrazu coffee often comes with traceability, meaning you can learn about the specific farm and processing methods used for the beans, adding to the coffee's story and authenticity.

These factors, combined with Costa Rica's commitment to coffee quality and sustainability, contribute to the special reputation of Tarrazu coffee. It's considered a premium coffee choice and is sought after by those who appreciate a well-balanced, flavorful cup of coffee with bright acidity.

1 Reviews for Costa Rican Tarrazu La Pastora Coffee - 12 oz.

  • After I visited Costa Rica - Tuesday, March 6, 2018
My wife and I visited Costa RIca last year and fell in love with their coffees. So many. We even went on some coffee tours.

Coffee is their #1 export I heard and this is why! Very good brew, exceptionally smooth.

Colombian Supremo Coffee - 12 oz

Colombian Supremo Coffee - 12 oz

    $14.95
The word Supremo refers to the Colombian coffee grading scale, specifically the bean size. Supremo being the largest Colombian bean (screen size 17/18). Bottom Line: Bigger is better.

The term SHB, means "Strictly Hard Bean", which refers to the higher growing altitude, above 4500' ASL. Note: Sometimes you will also see the term "SHG" - Strictly High Grown" which is the same. Bottom line: Higher is better!

The result is matchless Colombian perfection!

  • Espresso Bravo Coffee - 12 oz.

Espresso Bravo Coffee - 12 oz.

    $14.95
Toomer's Coffee original recipe Espresso Bravo Blend is a bold merge of Direct Trade Brazilian Cerrado, Rainforest Alliance Certified Costa Rican and SHB Colombian Supremo. The roast profile is a combination of City Roast, Full City, and French Roasts blended to our proprietary proportions.

Remember, Espresso is not a roast: It refers to the method of preparation, taken from the Italian, loosley transated, "Just for you". Actually you can use any roast when "pulling shots" of espresso. It's really a matter of personal preference. This is our original bolder blend from 2004. Check out our Espresso Crema Bella for a Medium Bodied option.

    Cheers!
